Saudi Arabia: Drone strike fails

Riyadh: Saudi coalition forces thwarted a drone strike by Houthi rebels. According to the Arab News Agency, the Saudi military coalition shot down the drone on Thursday, thwarting an attack by Yemen on Saudi Arabia.

Col. Turki al-Maliki, a spokesman for the Saudi military coalition, confirmed the drone strike, saying Houthi rebels from the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, had attacked southern Saudi Arabia, targeting civilian targets.

Last week, the Saudi military coalition foiled a drone strike by Yemen’s Houthi rebels, in which the Houthi rebels fired drones and two ballistic missiles, Arab media reported.

Houthi rebels have claimed several missile attacks targeting Saudi facilities and infrastructure since late May 2019. Yemen is engaged in a complex and deadly conflict, ongoing since Houthi rebels entered a civil war with the Yemeni government, supported by a Saudi-led coalition, in 2015.
